Heutagogy Learning App

Heutagogy Learning App is a full scale learning mannagement system with an app, a website for teachers based oh heutagogy principles. It is a gamified, AI based adaptive system for teachers and students to make learning more systematic, efficient and fun
Heutagogy means self-determined learning. It is a student centered instruction strategy, where the goal is inspire the student to learn by themselves and engage in an effective process of teaching. It is an informal way of teaching and parallels how anyone would learn outside a classroom setting. The teacher in this process is a valuable resource to get help from, rather than a primary source of knowledge. The ultimate goal of this method is to create 'lifelong learners'.
The core of our project is to create an online learning tool that could enable this method of teaching. A platform where learning can be made fun, Lessons can be gamified, and where a student can play to learn. We have built an android app for students to interact with. This app has a set of features like gamified quiz types, lessons, assistance tools like text to speech converter and a language translator, and a self assesment tool. To personalise the curriculum, we are building an AI based adaptivity model that adapts to the student's pace, learning methods and build a customised pathway to complete the course. Teacher can also use their experience and insights to design these rules of customisation. For example: 'If a student take more time on this material and scores lower in these metrics, show him these supplementary material'. Teachers can design lessons in heutagogical methods and teach effectively through our app. And to help teacher to design courses easily, enter the 'Hub'. The Hub is web based application from where teachers can create courses and material using simple drag and drop tools. These courses can be shared instantaneously with all their students. A teacher will also be able to monitor student interaction, progress and participation through the hub.
Apart from designing and leading this project, I built it's database and am building it's AI adaptivity model.
This project has been exhibited at UNESCO TECH 2019 summit. Leading educators, policymakers and research in education from across the world has attended the conference. Companies like microsoft, samsung and adobe has also exhibitted various ed-tech products of their's in that summit. Our project has even stood out in the summit and has recieved various laurels across the board. The government of Andhra Pradesh, India is adopting our application for more that 200+ schools in the state. We are also scaling it up for more than 5500 schools across India.
Our project has also helped Mrs Vijaya Bhanu, for whom we made the project at the beginning to experiment on heutagogy in her school. She has achieved amazing results and has shared them in various forums. She talks about her research and about the app in this article below.
